How big is a Smartbox?

We offer two Smartbox sizes to suit your needs. Whether you’re storing home furniture, business documents, or seasonal gear, we’ve got the right fit for you.

The Big Box

  • External Measurements: 3m (L) x 1.8m (W) x 2.3m (H)
  • Internal Measurements: 2.9m (L) x 1.8m (W) x 2.1m (H)
  • Ideal for: 1-2 bedroom homes, larger furniture, business storage (fits approx. 130 archive boxes)

The Baby Box

  • External Measurements: 1.8m (L) x 1.8m (W) x 2.3m (H)
  • Internal Measurements: 1.7m (L) x 1.7m (W) x 2.1m (H)
  • Ideal for: Studio apartments, small moves, decluttering

What can’t I store?

You MUST NOT store hazardous, dangerous, perishable, explosive, combustible liquids or gases, flammable, or illegal goods in a storage unit. Learn more about prohibited items here

How do I book a Smartbox?

I'd like to get a quote first before I book. Can I do that?

No problem! You can get a quote online or call/email us.

How much does a Smartbox cost?

Storage starts from as low as $150/month. A minimum charge of $255.00 applies to storage of one month or less. Please note that out-of-zone delivery may incur an extra charge.

Pricing is determined by the number of Smartboxes you need and the rental duration. For a more accurate cost, contact us to request a free quote.

Where does Smartbox deliver to?

We deliver Auckland-wide! Please check via our online booking system to find out if you are inside our delivery zone. We may still deliver outside of our delivery zone; however, additional charges may be incurred. Please contact us for an estimate.

Should you relocate outside of our delivery zone, we might still be your best option.

What about insurance?

You will need to organise your own insurance against fire, theft or breakage.

Whilst we do everything we can to ensure your stored items are secure, there can be no guarantees in life, and for this reason, if you wish to have your stored goods insured we are able to assist you to make suitable insurance arrangements at a very reasonable cost. If we damage your contents by accident or negligence our insurance will cover the damage. Our insurance rates start from as low as $7.50 a month for $5000 of cover. Yes! We offer Deliver & Load as an optional extra, to do the heavy lifting for you

Packing and Pick Up

How do I prepare and pack my belongings for a Smartbox?

Moving is regarded as one of the most stressful life events, but with some handy tips on forward planning and organisation, it can become an easier and smoother procedure! So don’t panic, as we have made this preparation guide to make your move easier! See here for details.

Here are some important things to think about before loading your Smartbox to ensure your goods are delivered in their original condition:

  1. Make a checklist to remain organised and save time.
  2. Ensure you have all the packing materials to reduce damage to your goods.
  3. Place as many items as possible into boxes, label them, and tape the bottoms for strength.
  4. Disassemble furniture and label screws and fixings in small bags.
  5. Defrost and clean fridges/freezers at least 24 hours before loading.
  6. If using our professional loading service, pack and protect your belongings in advance.

How much time do I have to pack my Smartbox?

You have up to one day (24 hours) to pack your Smartbox. Then we’ll collect it from you. Talk to us about your specific requirements

How do I access my Smartbox to pack it?

The Smartbox floor is just 40cm off the ground and comes with a small, easy in-built ramp.

How do I lock my Smartbox?

When you’ve finished packing, just lock the Smartbox. We can supply padlocks, or you can provide your own. Either way, you’ll be the only one with access to the key.

Are there items that I cannot store in a Smartbox?

Yes, prohibited items include perishables, flammables, and liquids. See our prohibited items page for more information.

The Smartbox Storage Facility

Where is the Smartbox storage facility?

Your Smartbox is stored at our secure storage facility at:

10 Arthur Brown Place,
Mt Wellington, Auckland
(behind Sylvia Park shopping centre)

What are Smartbox's opening hours?

You are welcome to visit us to see our operation or access your Smartbox. Please call and book a time so we can ensure your Smartbox is ready in our safe access areas.

  • Delivery Monday to Sunday: 8:0 a.m. – 4:00 p.m. (or by appointment)
  • Unit Access / Office Hours: Monday to Sunday 6am - 8pm
  • Public Holidays: Closed

We require at least 24 hours’ notice to book your access.

How long can I have my Smartbox stored for?

We can store your Smartbox for as long as you need. The longer your storage term, the cheaper the monthly storage rate.

Accessing Your Smartbox

How do I access my Smartbox?

Access is simple! Contact us when you want your Smartbox returned to you, or call to set up a time to visit our storage facility.

  • Notice: At least 24 hours’ notice is required.
  • Weekend Access: Request access before 3 p.m. on the Thursday prior.

There is no charge to access your Smartbox at our warehouse.

How much does it cost to redeliver my Smartbox back to my place?

A checkout fee of $75.00 per Smartbox applies within Auckland. This fee covers locating your Smartbox in our warehouse, loading it into a trailer, and preparing it for redelivery.

If you move out of your Smartbox yourself at our warehouse, a checkout fee of $35.00 applies per Smartbox.

We require a minimum of 14 days’ notice for redelivery bookings and to end your storage agreement.

How much room is needed to park the Smartbox trailer at my place?

The trailer is about 6m long from the tow bar to the ramp and 3.2m high. This is equivalent to at least two car spaces. Our driver will also need space to hook up to the trailer.

Can I have my Smartbox dropped to another location on the way?

Yes, additional stops can be arranged. Contact us at 0800 22 55 76 to discuss your requirements. Extra charges may apply.
